Objective
The goal of Everdell is to build the most prosperous city by collecting points through constructing buildings, recruiting critters, and completing special events. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Setup
Place the board and Ever Tree. Set the game board in the center and place the Ever Tree at the top.
Arrange resources. Place twigs, resin, pebbles, and berries along the riverbank. Set point and occupied tokens beside the board.
Shuffle cards. Shuffle the Forest cards and place the appropriate number on the forest clearings based on the number of players. Shuffle and place Special Event cards on the Ever Tree.
Meadow Cards. Lay eight cards face up from the main deck in the Meadow area.
Player setup. Each player selects a color, receives workers, and starting cards, and places additional workers on the Ever Tree’s branches.
First player. Randomly select the first player.
Gameplay
On each turn, you’ll choose one of three possible actions:
1. Place a Worker
2. Play a Card
Play critters or constructions using the resources you’ve gathered. Critters give you points and abilities, while constructions provide long-term benefits.
Cards have different requirements, so plan your strategy accordingly!
3. Prepare for the Season
As you progress, prepare for the next season by retrieving workers, adding new ones, and activating green production cards.
The seasons include Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, with each offering new opportunities and challenges.
End Game and Scoring
The game ends when all players pass. Points are tallied from cards in your city, completed events, Journey points, and purple Prosperity cards. The player with the highest score wins!
Tips
Managing your workers effectively and planning ahead is key.
Pay attention to the special events and how the changing seasons can influence your strategy.
Don’t forget to balance short-term gains with long-term city planning!
Enjoy crafting your woodland city and may the critters lead you to victory!
